August
August has been a spectacular month for fishing. Winds are light, seas are calm and the water is warm. It's an ideal time to pursue the big three- tarpon, bonefish and permit. Here are some highlights of the last week or so.
I fished with Clinton and Leanne from West Palm. Had a great time catching some jacks, got a shot at some bonefish and Clinton landed his first tarpon.
Sue and Kevin were down from Atlanta for a short vacation. Had a great time fishing with these guys- we caught some jacks, snappers, jumped a tarpon and hooked up to a giant permit- that unfortunately broke us off in structure before we could land him.
Joe- "The Grizzly Veteran" - fished with me two days this week. He has been fishing down here for almost 23 years. The weather and fishing were awesome. We jumped a nice tarpon on fly, released 4 permit and one bonefish.
It's been a great start to the fishing season. I'd like to thank everyone for the emails and calls.
Now's the time if you're looking to pursue a grand slam down here in the Florida Keys.
