Early Season Tarpon
Decided to go out and see if we could find any early tarpon. Tarpon season for the lower keys is in the spring months but with the amazing warm weather we've been having the water temperature is up in the high 70's- which can trigger the "big" tarpon to start moving into the backcountry.
I was very pleased to see several large tarpon rolling in the few places we fished. We hooked 3 and landed one- they all looked to be in the 80-100 lb range.
Tarpon fishing is one of the most exciting types of fishing you can do. I have to say that I am very excited about having these fish back in our waters for the season. If you have never been tarpon fishing in the Florida Keys you owe it to yourself to make the trip and battle the silver king!
Still working on our filming skills. Just put a few gopro mounts on the boat so we should be capturing more of the action now. :)
